5 Reasons You Should Use a Travel Agent for your Next Vacation

Are you ready to experience a vacation the right way?

Some people believe a travel agent or agency is a thing of the past or for the “old-timers” who don’t know how to work computers. Technology has provided us unlimited search options, photos at our fingertips and price points delivered in a single click of a button. This unfortunately, doesn’t make the vacation planning process any easier.

Why not?

The internet is great for looking but not for booking. Between the ads that overwhelm you, inconsistent pricing and false information, the internet can be a bit much. A travel agent (that’s me), can reduce the noise and curate a detailed vacation itinerary for you. No hours upon hours of web searching for you!

Benefits of Partnering With a Travel Agent

If you’ve been around the last few years or so, you won’t be surprised to hear that traveling has become, well, difficult. Between the health issues, staffing issues, pricing issues, entry issues and government issues, traveling domestic or international has become a bit of an obstacle course that you hope is still leading to your final destination.

Enter your travel agent. We don’t have super powers so we can't stop any of these challenges from happening to you but we can be there for you when it all goes unexpectedly. A real human person that answers her phone when you call.

1. A travel agent provides peace of mind

When you have questions about a destination, policy, packing requirements or restaurant menu a travel agent can email/call/text you the information to ease any anxiety you have prior to arriving at your destination. If crap hits the fan you’ll feel relief instead of worry knowing that an agent is available to hold your hand. If something unexpected comes up, you’ll be happy to know you were booked with travel insurance instead of scrambling to see a penny come back to you. If you can’t feel relaxed and have peace of mind about your vacation, then why even go?

2. An agent makes YOUR dreams come true

If you haven’t made up a dream vacation in your head then you’re not dreaming big enough!

Whether that dream vacation is a relaxing getaway retreat or big adventurous bucket list item, a travel consultant helps create the steps to build it to fruition. How do they do this? They TALK TO YOU! Most of my clients prefer the questionnaire I send as part of step one to creating your vacation. In short, I ask what you want and need out of your vacation. Maybe you haven’t even asked yourself these questions before you started looking, or it’s the first time someone has asked at all. A travel consultant's main goal is to provide you the best personalized customer experience and we start by knowing you. Preferences of all kinds are included in your custom travel itinerary. Unlike the internet, you won’t receive the default option when booking with a TA.

3. A travel consultant has expertise and knowledge

With the amount of time you’ve wasted on the computer searching for your next vacation you may think you are a pro, but a consultant is literally trained, connected and experienced in traveling.

The “discount” price and 3 photos of that luxury resort you’re eyeballing can only tell you so much about what your experience may be. A travel agent can tell you that the rate you’re comparing doesn’t include transportation, there’s noisy construction at the property, I hope you like road trips because the airport is 3 hours from the resort and that ocean view is only for Preferred Members.

4. A travel designer provides the best VALUE

First, let me make this clear, a travel agent does not control airlines, resort brands or any other massive company associated with the industry. This means we do not control the price. The dollar sign might be the same you see on the internet, but my quote will include added benefits such as, transportation included, resort coupons, fee upgrades, spa discounts and more!

So many times I get the comment that a client wants the cheapest vacation. I get it, I really do, but a cheap vacation does not equal a great vacation. I will always do my best to accommodate the budget but I want your experience to be above and beyond or otherwise what’s the point of spending your hard earned money in the first place?

5. An agent will do the hard work for you

Raise your hand if you’ve spent hours on the computer searching beach destinations only to end the night with a headache and no booking confirmation? Ever book a great priced hotel only to realize your rental car will be crazy expensive and you’re 2 hours away from the airport to your room?

If you used a travel agent, you wouldn’t even have to worry about these problems! Sounds nice right?

My job is to take the stress out of your vacation and that includes before you even go on vacation. Between my preferred suppliers, resources, fancy booking platforms and more, the research time for you becomes non-existent.

If you’ve ever had any kind of cancellation, missed flight or hotel issue you know you could spend a stupid amount of time on hold listening to crappy music. Pass over the phone and let me listen to that crappy phone music instead (not my favorite part of the job but a super crucial one!). Especially with the current state of travel, I guarantee there will be a need for a phone call pre or during travel that you do not want to have to deal with.

There’s No Downside of Using a Travel Agent

Just because you have scissors at home doesn’t mean you can cut your own hair and look good. The same goes for planning and booking your travel experiences. Let the professional do the work for you and know you won’t be regretting that decision.

Stop wasting your time, energy and money on a vacation that’s not for you. Book your personalized trip with your favorite travel agent and know that you’ll have someone to count on from start to finish.
